Hi I’m Kylie,
I’m a curious, active little girl who needs a lot of love and a patient owner. I won’t run and jump in your lap and give you kisses right away so if you need a dog to do that immediately, I’m not your girl. I would love to sleep with you and snuggle and if you’re patient and give me the time, I will be a wonderful companion. I love to go on walks, I’m very good on a leash. I love love love squeaky toys which I just recently discovered. I love to play and when I’m excited and happy I twirl in circles. I still get anxious but my foster mom thinks I will be a wonderful companion for someone who understands what my life has been like and helps me reach my potential. I learn things quickly but need time to respond to love and attention.

Kylie is a typical rescue story. Her owner did not take good care of her, she did not have good vet care and lost 10 teeth at her recent cleaning. She was not good about being taken outside or exercising her but Kylie has learned good house manners.

After the owner passed away no one really wanted her but they felt guilty and didn’t want to take her to the shelter so a family member took her to their home. She tried to fit in and did adjust to the young kids that made her nervous with their toys and all the running and playing. She would hide from them but after a few months she adjusted and learned to not be afraid of them. Then one day she was napping and the 2 year old was playing close by and all of a sudden fell on her. It scared and hurt her and she snapped at him. She didn’t bite him or try to hurt him but it scared everyone and they found out about the rescue and decided after 10 months that she would be happier in a home without young kids.

Her first owner didn’t hold her or give her much attention and she is still learning what is expected or what people want her to do. She will sometimes run away when you want to pick her up but she will also come and stand by you when she wants to be picked up. She needs time!

We do not have a facility, all dogs are fostered in the homes of our volunteers. If you are interested in adopting a dog from Lil' Paws Maltese Rescue and other Petite Paws, please visit our website at and fill out an adoption application. This is the first step in our adoption process. Our goal is to place our dogs in safe, stable and loving homes in the Austin Metropolitan area. Thanks for looking!

Lil' Paws Maltese Rescue and other Petite Paws depends on donations to keep the dogs in our program healthy. Many health issues are taken care of before a dog leaves a rescue: spaying, neutering, immunizations, dental care, and in some cases major surgery. Because of the cost of this care, donations are essential to enable us to continue our work. If you would like to show appreciation for what we do and help us continue to do it please go to our website homepage and click the donate button. We thank you in advance for your support.
