Kyle's Story

Please meet Kyle! He is estimated to be between 6 to 8 years old, neutered, current on his vaccines, house broken, and is being fostered in Poulsbo, WA.

Kyle is a darling, Boxer-mix who has been through the wringer. Poor Kyle got dumped at a shelter and doesn't understand why. We don’t have a clue either, as his foster mom tells us he is sweet, endearing, and has a ton of love to give. He came in pretty shut down emotionally, and it took about a week for his posture to relax from the scared, sad dude he arrived as. With a solid routine every day to follow, Kyle has blossomed, and his abandonment anxiety has lessened considerably. He isn't afraid to meet your eyes anymore and he has learned there is plenty of love to go around so he can relax around his foster fur-brothers and fur-sister.

Kyle is still a follow you everywhere, Velcro sort of guy. He goes where you go. He wants to see you, touch you, and lie at your feet. At first, he was very crabby about the other dogs coming up to his foster mom for pets, but this was behavior born of fear that his NEW GOOD THING would be taken from him. He puppy piles with his foster crew now and that "resource guarding" behavior is a thing of the past...with his pack. We expect though that his forever family will have to be patient with him as he learns *again* that there is enough love for all.

Kyle has learned the house routines well and seamlessly gets up, eats, and takes himself outside with the rest of the pack. He helps his foster mom take care of ducks, geese, and a horse with no problems or prey drive issues because ALL KYLE CARES ABOUT IS YOU. The shock of being left will likely be with him for a long time and his default is to glue himself to your side. This will make Kyle a fabulous addition to a home where someone is always there or where his person would get to take him to work. Kyle has good manners and would excel at making sure your feet are toasty under the desk in your cubicle or help you supervise your shop! If you have to leave every day, keep scrolling, 'cause Kyle will be stressed out badly by being left alone. His person(s) is his security blanket.

Kyle picked up a toy recently for the first time. He really has been in survival mode and seeing him blossom is the heartwarming reason we all do rescue. He's wiggly now. He isn't worried now, and more and more glimmers of his personality emerge every day that he gets to feeling safe and loved. He is a great dog now, we can only imagine who he'll be in a year with his people loving him and erasing his past trauma with every pet on his sweet head. Are you his people? If so, then please apply for him soon – you can find our application here: www.mustluvboxersrescue.com/adopt.

MustLuvBoxers Rescue's Adoption Policy
Locations we serve: We are currently accepting applications from residents in Washington, Oregon and Northern Idaho (close to the WA border), and some areas of Canada. While we serve the majority of these areas, in some cases we cannot find a volunteer to home check certain areas of these states. For that reason, your application may be denied. Same Sex Dogs in a Household: Our rescue does not adopt dogs out to households that already have a dog of the same sex. This is due to increased aggression and dominance issues among same sex dogs. This also applies to dogs who are frequent visitors in your home. In some cases, we allow dogs with a 9+ year age difference to be placed in the same home. Application Types: Below you will be asked to select what type of application you would like to submit. Adoption Application: you are interested in adopting a rescue dog who is in foster care. Foster-to-Adopt Application: you are interested in fostering a dog for a three week period with the intention to adopt. If you decide the dog is not a good fit, you will continue fostering until the dog is adopted out through the standard adoption process. This process requires you to be on Facebook to interact with our support group after your application is processed. Foster Application: you are interested in providing a safe, structured and loving home for a rescue dog until they find their forever home through the adoption process. All supplies and medical expenses will be covered. This process requires you to be on Facebook to interact with our support group after your application is processed. What to Expect When Fostering or Fostering-to-Adopt: There is no perfect dog when fostering. Each dog that comes into foster care has their own unique personalities, many that just need love and care to work through undesirable behaviors. Most of these dogs have never had a safe, secure or loving home like you will be providing them. We will never ask a foster to take a human-aggressive or a dog with extreme behavioral issues. Those dogs go to our seasoned fosters or trainers. Every dog that comes into MLBR will have different quirks or issues; whether it be needing a single dog home, medical, crate and potty training, working through their fears, crate rotation, etc. Crate training a dog is not a punishment. Utilizing a crate in the home creates a safe space for the dog to decompress. Each dog will have different comfort levels, and not all are going to be social, which is okay; it doesn’t mean they’re not adoptable.
