Kuzco's Story
Age: 6 years
Weight: 12 lbs.
Adoption Fee: $350
Fostered in Indian Trail, North Carolina
Email: yorkiemommync@yahoo.com

I have serious medical issues, Please Donate!

8/22/2025 - Please welcome Kuzco to Yorkie Haven. He is such a well-behaved and happy boy! He just loves everyone! Unfortunately, we have found out that Kuzco has Diabetes Insipidus Central, which happens when the hypothalamus does not produce any or enough ADH. Signs of this condition were that he was drinking a lot of water and then going potty a lot to the point where he would start peeing standing and then think he was done and start walking and he was still peeing. They can develop incontinence with this condition if not controlled. We have already tried the medication recommended for this condition and it only worked for 24 hours. We also had to recheck his electrolytes after being on the meds and they are out of whack as well. Our next step is to see an internal medicine doctor to see what they recommend we do to help him. He has been transitioned to a low sodium diet, which is recommended for his condition. Kuzco also broke one of his back legs when he was a puppy. His previous family did take him in for surgery to fix it and as he grew and it healed, the plate inside the leg moved so it had to come out. He tends to hold that leg up a lot and we can tell his other back leg bothers him too, so we are seeing a doctor to have them checked to see if there is anything we can do to help that as well. Despite all these medical ailments, Kuzco is the sweetest, most loving boy. He will give kisses, he asks to go outside, loves sleeping in bed with you and curling up on you or next to you on the couch. He is always so happy too. When his foster leaves the house, they just put a belly band on him just in case he has to go while no one is home.
