Krystal's Story
Our adoption application can be found at the bottom of this pet's bio. Once your application has been approved, we can arrange a virtual meet & greet with you and Krystal.

Krystal is currently in a foster home in Houston, TX and is eligible to transport to an adopter as soon as one is lined up.

Meet Krystal!

Krystal is a 7 month old (as of 9/22/25) female Great Pyrenees & Black lab mix. Krystal is fully vaccinated, microchipped and ready to find a family to call her own. Due to Krystal's size and breed, we are waiting to get her spayed until she is adopted or 1 year old (whichever comes first). Krystal currently weighs 66 pounds and we do expect that she still has some growing to do.

Krystal is dog friendly! We would say that she has a medium amount of energy. She typically will walk or play for 15-20 minutes and then she becomes tired and prefers to lounge around. Given her young age, I would expect that she will be a lower energy dog when fully grown. She warms up quickly to other dogs and enjoys zooming around with them.

We would recommend a home without cats for Krystal.

Krystal is kid friendly and has been around children ages 2, 6 and 11 years old. While she doesn't live with children, she has been around kids of this age and is quite patient with them petting her face or even having food around her. She is large and tends to be clumsy when excited, so bigger kids would be best.

Krystal enjoys sniffing all the things around her since she is still a puppy experiencing a new environment. Krystal is still leash training but is able to keep up with her humans. Krystal needs more practice since she is just starting to learn how to walk on a leash but has made good progress in the few weeks we've fostered her.

Krystal is fully trained and is sure to only go potty outside. Krystal is crate trained and does well in the crate or in a baby gated off room. Her foster family puts her in a baby gated off room during the day and she will whine a little, but then settle down and play with her toys or nap.

Here's a small blurb about Krystal from her foster mom:

Krystal is so smart! She figured out two different food puzzles immediately and understood sit with only a couple of repetitions. We are working with her on commands and she is making good progress on learning “sit”, (lay) “down”, “touch” and “play dead”.

Krystal enjoys gatherings at our home because she can meet new people (and get their treats and affection). She is quick to warm up to people (both on walks and in the home) and enjoys pets, belly rubs, ear scratches and hugs. Happy to get attention from people she has just met. I have had gatherings of 10 people at a time at our home and she likes receiving attention during these events. She immediately greeted a visitor she had never met before at the front door and asked for pets. She does great meeting new techs/medical staff and isn't fearful at the vet office. She can be often seen laying on her back wallowing on her favorite blanket and gently playing with her toys.
She also likes to gather her favorite scattered toys (especially a squeaky duck, and a star stuffed toy) from the front of the house and move them to her favorite lounging spot in the living room. Krystal likes taking naps near the foot of the couch on the floor to be close to her humans. She likes to eat ice and will come running if she hears the ice dispenser. I think she will do best with someone who has a fenced in yard to run around in. Krystal loves being outside in the backyard where she can sniff and lay in the grass in a private area; she frequently likes to sit at the backdoor to indicate she wants to spend some time outside. In the car, Krystal settles in and enjoys looking out the windows at other cars passing by. Over time, she'll lay down for the ride. Krystal will make a wonderful addition to any loving home.

Interested in learning more about Krystal or applying to adopt her?
