Kona's Story

Meet Kona He may have a tiny heart condition... but he has the biggest heart you'll ever meet.

If you're looking for a professional cuddler and snack enthusiast, Kona might just be your guy.

Kona is a mixed breed pup with the sweetest little Dorito ears, a bouncy trot that looks like a miniature horse, and a heart (in every sense of the word) that is full of love. When he's ready to relax, he'll simply locate the nearest lap and crawl right in like he's always belonged there.

This little guy is playful, silly, and very food motivated - the sound of the pantry opening sends him running at full speed. He loves toys and is learning that toys are the best place for those excited puppy chomps. When he gets a little nippy during play, he's easily redirected and happily grabs a toy instead.

Kona is doing great with his puppy manners so far! He's already peeing and pooping outside with consistent potty breaks, does well settling in his crate, and has proven he can nap right through the joyful chaos of a house with kids. He spent some time with children (ages 8, 6, and 4) and absolutely adores them - running alongside them during playtime and then snuggling up when the day winds down.

Now for Kona's special detail:
Kona was recently seen by a cardiologist and diagnosed with pulmonic stenosis, a heart valve condition. The good news is that his case is currently mild and does not require surgery. He simply takes a daily medication (which is very affordable) and will need a cardiology recheck in about 4-6 months, followed by likely yearly checkups. Right now, he's expected to live a happy, normal puppy life full of play, naps, and snacks.

Kona may have a little heart condition, but it certainly doesn't stop him from being the bestest boy.

If you're looking for a puppy with a big personality, a gentle spirit, and a heart worth protecting, Kona might be the perfect addition to your family.
