Originally used for retrieving waterfowl for hunters, this intelligent, joyful, and loyal breed is agile, loves water, and excels in activities like scent work and agility, making it a devoted companion for active families, often mistaken for doodles due to its coat. <br/>Key Characteristics:<br/>Origin: France, an ancient breed dating back to the 16th century, considered an ancestor to breeds like the Poodle.<br/>Appearance: Medium-sized, balanced, slightly rectangular build with a substantial head and long tail, covered in a dense, curly, waterproof coat.<br/>Coat Colors: Various shades of black, gray, brown, and fawn, with or without white markings.<br/>Temperament: Cheerful, loyal, intelligent, eager to please, and good with children and other pets.<br/>Skills: Excellent swimmers and retrievers, natural athletes, good at scent work, agility, and search and rescue.
