Komi's Story
***Sharonville location ***

Ten year old Komi has hit a rough patch in her life, not because of her health, but because of her former owner’s failing health. Komi was surrendered to the shelter when her owner had to enter a nursing home. Prior to that, she was cherished, loved, held, carried, and snuggled…all things that Komi deeply needs to feel secure. While she is safe and secure at the shelter, she does not have someone who can carry or sit with her all day long, and she is alone at night. Komi’s ideal home is one where she could be a lap dog all day. She would be an excellent emotional support animal to someone who was unable to leave the home often. Because of her age and tiny bladder, needs frequent potty breaks so her care giver, or other family member, would need to be able-bodied to get her in and out to a yard a few times a day. She does have the occasional accident here at the shelter but that could also be attributed to the shelter environment where she is not going outside for breaks every few hours. She is not pee-pad trained.

Komi is “corral” trained but does not like a closed crate environment. We use an open top gated corral for her which works nicely here at the shelter. This way, we can keep her out of a cage or kennel, yet keep her in the lobby without risk of her wandering off.

Special needs: She receives eye drops, currently twice a day, for recent cataract removal. Otherwise, her health is good and bloodwork results prior to cataract surgery were also within normal parameters.

Komi is good with cats and will snuggle with them. She can be feisty or even aggressive towards other dogs so it is not recommended she go to a home with dogs.

Please consider making an appointment to see if Komi would be a good fit for your household, or companion animal for someone who needs a tiny warm animal to occupy their time and their lap!

*Must be 21 or older to adopt
**Our shelter has a policy to only adopt within a 50 mile radius so that if problems arise the pet can easily be returned to the shelter.
