Adoption events is the best way to meet several of our dogs at once.

Koda is a 5 year old black and red German Shepherd. He came into rescue when there was a change in his living arrangements, and a new baby in the house. Koda was very loved, cared for, and trained by his previous owners. He knows over a dozen commands, has been well socialized in busy, crowded setting. He is also housebroken, crate trained, and rides well in the car. Koda is off leash reliable and neutral with other dogs.Koda loves to play fetch, and use his nose to find hidden objects. His foster mom has referred to him as ' a searching machine'. He has moderate to higher energy, and is definitely happiest when he is doing a task such as searching or obedience. Koda is affectionate, treat and praise motivated, and seeks to please his handler. He is looking for a home with previous working dog experience and ideally someone who is already in the sport dog/searching field. He has no bite training, and would not be a candidate for such work, but would be an excellent hobby nosework/ detection dog. Cats and small critters unknown. Level 3

Understanding Dog Levels

Please be sure you understand what a dog of this Level requires. Go to our home page for an explanation of the Dog Rating Levels.

Additional Adoption Information

For more information and to see when this dog will be attending an Adoption Day, please see our Dogs page on our main website. (Adoption Process) We operate within a reasonable driving distance from the Greater Sacramento area, the Central Valley down to Merced, and Lake Tahoe. A reasonable driving distance is determined by where one of our volunteers is willing to drive within our areas of service. That means we don't adopt out of our area, to Southern California, or out of state.

Puppy Requirements

We have special Requirements for Adopting a Puppy and a separate Puppy Questionnaire that must be completed on puppies. Please see our Requirements for Adopting a Puppy or email us at info@gcgsr.org for more information.

Thank you for visiting!
