Knox's Story

Meet Knox — the definition of a SPECIAL boy with the sweetest heart you could ever hope to meet. While life has started a little rough, he faces every challenge with quiet determination and endless love.

Knox has megaesophagus, which means eating and drinking safely requires a strict diet, specialized feeding position/chair, and ongoing medication. It's vital that he has time staying upright after meals, water, and medicine so that he doesn't aspirate into his lungs. He's become quite the little pro at eating at the table until we can get him a proper Bailey chair and often takes cozy naps in the baby carrier after while his body and gravity does the hard work it needs to. Despite all of that Knox's spirit is enormous.

Now that we're learning what works best for him, his playful puppy personality is beginning to shine brighter every day. He's affectionate, eager to please, quick to listen, and so incredibly loving. Knox adores other dogs, does wonderfully with kids, and is great with cats too.

Knox will need a patient and dedicated adopter who can stay diligent with his medication schedule and feeding requirements while continuing to help him learn and thrive. In return, you'll get one of the most rewarding companions imaginable — a resilient little puppy who loves deeply, tries his absolute best every single day, and reminds everyone around him just how special he is.

If you're ready to open your heart to a puppy who needs a little extra care but gives back endless love, Knox is waiting for you.

If you are interested in adopting, please visit our website and complete an adoption application at www.elpasocountycanine.org/adopt

El Paso County Canine Rescue's Adoption Policy
Please bear with us as we process applications! We are working on changing our processes to function during the COVID-19 outbreak. We have had a big increase in people wanting to adopt (yay!) so it's taking us a bit of time to get through the applications. We work on a first-come, first-serve basis. You must apply for adoption before you will be able to meet with a pup. If you meet with a dog and decide to adopt, we can process your adoption right then and you can go home with your new family member! Thank you for adopting from us and saving our sweet dogs!
