Klaus's Story

Klaus is just a good boy. Like, the goodest boy. When you first meet him, this 2 or 3-year-old is like an old friend you've known your whole life - that one who makes you feel like a million bucks, and like you're the nicest, coolest and most interesting human in the whole world. He's bouncy and excited without being overbearing. He's gentle taking treats and walks well on a leash, although sometimes he'd rather happily roll in the grass for belly rubs than actually walk.

In addition to being GOOD, Klaus is also SMART. In his impressive repertoire of commands and tricks is sit, paw, stay, down, roll over, speak...and those are just the ones we've figured out. It's clear Klaus was once loved and well trained, and he deserves that again. In fact, he's so intelligent and attuned that when a group came to visit him, he attached himself to a young woman. As she sat in a chair, Klaus sat right next to her, pressing his big soft head right up against hers, cheek to cheek, and didn't want to move. We then leaned she wore a hearing aid. So, we don't know whether Klaus could hear the faint hum no one else could, or if he sensed a difference and was offering comfort, but it was super sweet nonetheless. Klaus is a special boy. He doesn't really seem to know what cats are, but was fine with those he met here. He seems good with other dogs, but would like a meet and greet with any potential canine siblings. He's neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines.

Apply to adopt your new best friend at www.secondchanceas.org/adopt or at the sanctuary any time we're open. Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries's Adoption Policy
Our adoption process: 1) Fill out an application on our website at www.secondchanceas.org/adopt. Please note that submitting an inquiry through PetFinder or other online listing does not constitute an adoption application. Applications can also be downloaded as a pdf and emailed to secondchanceas@yahoo.com or filled out at the sanctuary any time we're open. 2) We will process your application by calling your veterinarian and personal references. How long this takes depends on how quickly we can reach them. You can help expedite this process by letting them know we'll be calling from the number 570-376-3646. We may also call you to ask additional questions or to share pertinent information about the animal you've applied for. 3) We will inform you of your application's status, usually in a few days to a week. Even if the animal you hoped to adopt goes to another home, you still may be approved to adopt another animal. We attempt to match animals to homes that best fit their personality/needs and vice versa. NOTE: You do not have to apply for a specific animal on your application. You can submit it as a "pre-application" for a certain size, age or breed of animal, and if approved, we can contact you if a possible match arrives at the shelter.
