Kiwi's Story

Hi, my name is Kiwi! I'm a PURPLE pawprint, which means I will fit well into a home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:
-Personality: Energetic, Queen Bee, A+ Student
-Can Live with Kids: We're recommending dog-savvy children 8+ - age up to counselor discretion.
-Can Live with Cats: Unknown History, SLOW and SUPERVISED introductions and interactions.
-Can Live with Dogs: No Thanks, Kiwi would prefer to be the only dog in the household.
-Can do Apartment Living: No, Thanks, Kiwi is pretty dog reactive and an apartment would be too stressful.
-Potty Trained: appears to be
-Bite History: Nope.
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Not required but would be HIGHLY BENEFICAL!
-Energy Level: HIGH
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Yes, a spay and microchip.
-Additional Information:
Kiwi is a vibrant, high-energy pup who’s ready to find her forever home. At around 1 year old, she’s still very much in her puppy phase—full of curiosity, enthusiasm, and a zest for life. Kiwi came into the shelter as a stray, so her past is a mystery, but she’s looking forward to a bright future with a family who can give her the love and guidance she deserves. Because she’s still learning the ropes, Kiwi would benefit greatly from a home that can provide routine, structure, and continued basic manners training. She’s smart and eager, and with consistency and patience, she has so much potential to grow into a well-mannered, loyal companion.

Kiwi is best suited for adopters who are ready for the long-term commitment that comes with bringing a young dog into their lives. She’ll thrive with people who can meet her needs—not just for affection, but also for proper veterinary care, quality nutrition, grooming, and plenty of mental and physical stimulation to keep her happy and balanced. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
