Kit's Story

This dog is in Tennessee. Adoption Donation $200 if picked up in TN, $275 plus transport fee for out-of-state adoptions.

Meet Kit, the 15-pound foxy little charmer who is proof that great things really do come in small packages! This adorable Chihuahua/Rat Terrier looking mix has the most expressive face you've ever seen on a dog, and when you talk to her, she tilts her head to the side like she is hanging on your every word and genuinely trying to understand you. Kit is a shy girl who has been quietly blossoming in her foster home, and the transformation has been beautiful to watch. She is housetrained, leash trained, travels well in the car, and has claimed her crate as her own cozy safe space that she happily runs to when she wants to feel secure. At just 1.5 years old and with a low-to-medium energy level, she is perfectly content soaking up sun on the porch, going for leisurely walks, and cuddling up with her favorite person. Oh, and treats. Kit is very, very enthusiastic about treats. She hasn't learned any formal commands yet, which means her new home gets the fun of teaching her! She is clearly intelligent and tuned in to the people around her, so training should be a rewarding experience for everyone involved. Kit would do best as the star of the show in a calm, patient home where she can continue building her confidence at her own pace. She would love being an only dog or having just one larger canine companion, and a quieter adult household where she feels safe and cherished would truly help her shine. This sweet little girl has so much love to give once she trusts you, and she is absolutely worth the wait. All canines over the age of 6 months have been tested for heartworm. All canines are put on heartworm prevention as soon as possible - this means dogs as soon as they are tested negative. Puppies are put on prevention immediately. All felines, regardless of age, have been tested for Feline Leukemia/FIV. Each animal receives a health check by a licensed veterinarian prior to adoption. Anything else found will be treated by our organization prior to adoption.
