Meet Kira-HELP!

UPDATE thank you to all who have donated so far!
Kira is resting comfortably at our vet Animal Clinic of Morris Plains getting TLC from the staff after surgery. We are still looking for a foster or foster to adopt home where she can recover...email njwoof@cs.com if you would like to open your home to this sweet pup!

Sweet puppy Kira needs your help! Please share!

This 6-7 month old was found as an injured stray and brought to the local pound not able to bear any weight on her hind leg. X-rays revealed a completely broken femur that was beginning to heal at a 90 degree angle...a specialty surgeon had to re-break the bone and get through lots of scar tissue to insert pins so her leg would be usable.
Surgery was at least $1500 plus she will likely need physical therapy as she heals to have the best chance of a full recovery! Please consider donating to help off-set her medical costs...

And more importantly we urgently need a special local foster or foster to adopt home where she can recover! She needs STRICT crate rest for the next 2 months as she heals, as well as some gentle range of motion exercises. And lots of love and TLC of course! Little Kira is only about 30lbs right now and still growing, about 6-7 months old and we think a lab/pit mix. Despite how much pain she has endured in her young life from her injury being untreated for so long, she has a great temperament and is a gentle happy playful puppy eager to get back to her puppyhood once she recovers.
Please email njwoof@cs.com if you can help Kira! She will need several follow up visits at our vet Animal Clinic of Morris Plains as she heals so a foster or adopter would have to be able to bring her back for her rechecks.

We do not have a shelter- all our pets are in foster homes and can be seen by appointment only during the week, or at our weekly pet adoptions every Sunday at the Animal Clinic of Morris Plains from 12:30 to 3PM at 3009 Route 10 East, Morris Plains, NJ. Please email njwoof@cs.com for the fastest response to make sure the dog you are interested in will be there.
To help us better match a pet to your household, we request you fill out an application on our homepage www.secondchance.petfinder.com and copy and paste it into an email, or print it and bring it to our adoption day when you come. Local inquiries only please- we do not do long distance adoptions.
Can't adopt but still want to help this dog? Click on the Sponsor Me button at the top of this page to donate toward his/her care! All donations are tax-deductible and go directly toward the care of our rescue dogs. Thank you for your support!
