Her husband could no longer care for her and made the decision to surrender her to a shelter.

Understandably, Kippy shut down. She barely ate, didn’t respond to her name, and seemed to forget everything she knew.

Then she came to a foster home.

As she began feeling safe again, her personality slowly returned. She happily sits (with the cutest little circus-style pose), “speaks” on cue, loves belly rubs and muzzle scratches, and is one of the easiest dogs to have around the house.

Kippy is house trained, rides great in the car, takes treats gently, doesn’t beg for people food, and has shown no resource guarding. She enjoys walks and her leash manners continue to improve every day. She loves people, enjoys other dogs, and we’ve noticed she tends to take cues from calm dogs around her, so we think she’d do well with a confident canine companion.

Like many dogs who have experienced significant loss, Kippy does have some separation anxiety and would thrive in a home where someone is home much of the time. She is looking for a calm, confident family who will help her continue building confidence and reassure her that she’s finally home for good.

The biggest thing we’ve learned about Kippy is this: she’s a home dog. Once she feels safe, she’s funny, affectionate, incredibly sweet, and an absolute joy to live with.

If you’re looking for a loyal companion who just wants to love and be loved, Kippy is waiting to meet you.
