KING OF HEARTS's Story
King of Hearts is exactly the heartthrob you think he is: gorgeous, confident you agree and impish in what he’ll try to get away with on his good looks. As soon as you meet him, it’s truly love at first sight. He’s a bundle of love and joy. But he’s got a few lil behaviors he needs to work on—namely, some leash manners. He gets extremely frustrated when he can’t get to things he wants in the distance. And so far, that mostly seems to be related to people. He loves people and he wants to say hi to them all and it’s a very unfair world that won’t allow such a thing. He gets excited to see other dogs but he’s easier to redirect in those cases.
King is a young guy, possibly still under a year, and definitely a great candidate for training. He loves toys and high value treats, both which will be useful tools to help incentivize him to be his best self. He’s extremely loving and affectionate, and with the right pack leader giving him positive reinforcement training, he’s likely to excel and become an awesome family member.
Staff has not been able to pair him successfully with another dog; however, that is not necessarily an indicator that he cannot live with other dogs. The two females that staff tried to pair him with seemed to be the ones that weren’t doing well with the pairing. It’s likely he’s just still learning the ropes in the dog world and needs to learn a few more social cues. As always, slow introductions are recommended. Please discuss all of this with your adoption counselor when you come meet King today!
