King's Story
Retired racing greyhound King is a 6-year-old black male who comes to American Greyhound from Romford Retired Greyhounds in the UK. This gorgeous boy went by Kuwaiti King at the track, and he retired due to a gracilis muscle injury. (That’s the inner thigh muscle in the rear leg.) King is all healed up now after some rest, and he is living up to his name! He’s a big, handsome boy with a friendly personality. He loves toys, especially balls, and has a playful side that is so much fun.

On leash, King walks beautifully, though his excitement can mean he is strong on the leash at times. Because of his size and enthusiasm, he can be a little intimidating for very young children, but he’s spent time with kids over the age of 6 without issues.

King has seen cats and small dogs and may do okay with both with proper introductions and supervision. However, he has not been fully cat-tested yet, that may change.

If you’re looking for a happy, affectionate companion who will keep you smiling, King could be your perfect match.

King arrives September 17, but you can submit an application today! Please note: We primarily adopt across the Midwest, including Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, Missouri, and surrounding states.

* * * * *

All of our available dogs are currently residing in foster homes, which means we gradually learn more about them the longer they are with us. We try to update profiles as we learn new information, but if you have questions about a specific dog, please ask!

Adoption fees include a routine vet exam/testing, spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchipping, martingale collar, and matching leash. Adoption costs help to pay for transportation and other expenses as well.

* * * * *

Not ready to adopt just yet? New foster families are always welcome and very much needed!
