Kiko *Adoption Pending*'s Story

Kiko is a new addition to our sister rescue, All Life Animal Rescue. He is a wonderful approximately 1 yr old Boxer mix with a story to tell... Kiko was found last week on 4/15/15 in Aurora in a good sumaritans yard. They brought Kiko to the vet after noticing that for the two days they had him caring for him, he was vomiting and hadn't defecated. He just happened to be brought to the vet clinic we use for our animals. After xrays and IV fluids that these wonderful people paid for, it was determined that Kiko had ingested something that was blocking his intestines. So, since the finders could not afford the expense of surgery, we were contacted and Kiko was signed over to us after determining he was not microchipped or wearing tags. Kiko had his surgery to remove the blockage on 4/18 after 24 hrs. of fluid therapy to treat his extreme dehydration. He only weighed 36.5 lbs when he was brought in and he should easily weigh 60 or more when healthy. He had obviously been neglected or on the streets for a long time. Our awesome doctors ended up removing a large solid blockage that consisted of pieces of a horse lead rope, horse hair clippings, and horse droppings, as well as almost a foot of intestine that were damaged and had the blockage inside. Now, he is recovering from surgery and doing absolutely wonderful. A dog that wouldn't eat, wouldn't move, and looked so sick when he came in to the hospital is now a dog that is eating, up and wagging his tail at everyone he meets. Strange dogs, strange people, etc. all passing his kennel in the hospital and those caring for him. We can tell he is a great dog. Kiko will be available for adoption in a few weeks when he is healed from his surgery and puts on much needed weight, gets vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered, as well as giving him time for any potential owner to come forward. Please call 630-433-8528 or email taysstrays@yahoo.com if interested in adopting this boy. Thank You!
