Kiara von Konz is a stunning 5 year-old plush-coated German Shepherd, larger in size, with a beautiful red coat. An affectionate sweetheart, she'll bury her head in your arms and is generous with her kisses. Kiara has such a lovely and friendly demeanor, she'll come right up, gaze in your eyes and quietly follow you around; she even prefers affection over treats. She's eager to please, knows her Sit, Down and Paw commands, and walks nicely on leash. In playgroups she does very well, exploring calmly and meeting and mingling nicely with other dogs. It's cute to see her play in a kiddie pool, so she likes water. (She's not for cats.) If you would love a big, affectionate girl, come make Kiara's dreams come true! Westside German Shepherd Rescue of LA's Adoption Policy

We require an application first so we can show you dogs who might be right for your home. We know our dogs and once we get to know you better, we can help you select your next family member! Based on our experience, Westside’s current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are “softer” and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor. We are not placing dogs into apartments/condos/townhouses at this time. Almost all of our dogs come from the Central Valley and are used to space; it is harder for them to adjust to apartment living, but please check local animal shelters, there are always plenty of dogs available for adoption! COVID UPDATE: ADOPTION DAYS & HOURS Please refer to our website for the most accurate and up to date information. ******* Pre-approved applicants only ******* ADOPTION DAYS ******* Pre-approved applicants only ******* Although our adoption hours remain the same, due to the COVID-19 situation, we are only showing dogs to PRE-APPROVED applicants. If you have submitted an on-line application but have not been approved by our volunteer, please do NOT come down to meet dogs as we won't be able to show you any. Our main priority right now is to keep our staff, volunteers and you healthy during these difficult times. No on-site screening at this time. Once approved and told to come meet dogs, we will be happy to help you. If you're just "shopping around", please apply at a later time.
