She originally came from California during one of the wildfire periods and has shown incredible resilience as she has navigated big changes in her life.<br/><br/>Khali is an incredibly smart, intuitive dog who truly shines when she feels safe, understood, and has clear communication. She forms strong bonds with her people and loves being part of the household, whether that is relaxing nearby, engaging in enrichment, or learning new skills. She is the kind of dog who thrives with guidance and consistency.<br/><br/>Khali is happiest when she can be near her people and would do best in a home where someone is around much of the time, such as a work from home household or a home with a flexible schedule. She loves being included in daily life and enjoys simply being close to her person.<br/><br/>Khali is currently being fostered by a fear free dog trainer in the O’Fallon / St. Charles County area who has worked with her for about a year and is hoping to find a local home so her transition can be supported and her skills can be transferred to set everyone up for long term success.<br/><br/>After spending time in a previous home, it became clear that the environment was not the right fit for her needs. Since transitioning into foster care, she has been settling in beautifully and is much more relaxed in a predictable, structured environment where she feels secure.<br/><br/>Khali would do best as the only pet in the home and is looking for an adult household without children. She is not a fit for homes with cats or other small animals. A calm environment with structure will allow her to continue to build confidence and feel safe.<br/><br/>Khali is truly an amazing dog with so much potential and will absolutely thrive in a home that is willing to follow guidance and provide consistency.
