Keno Shih Tzu & Terrier Mix Vancouver, BC

Keno is about 12 years old. He weights about 9 kgs. Keno was surrendered when his family moved to Florida from Richmond BC.

Keno is a very friendly and affectionate dog. He's super easy going and likes to hang out. He likes to go for walks and is a good leash walker. He's great with all dogs of all sizes and fine with cats and respectful children .

However because he is diabetic we prefer a home without children,.to prevent him from getting treats and food outside of his scheduled meals and insulin administration.

Keno is diabetic and requires insulin every 12 hours with meals. He cannot have any food or treats during the day because this will mess with his glucose levels. He also has Cushing's disease and requires 1 pill daily with his breakfast.

His diabetes and Cushing's disease is being very well managed now, and we'd like it to stay that way for his best health possible!

Keno does have to pee more frequently than a young dog that doesn't have diabetes and Cushing's. So a home where his people are not gone for long periods of time is most ideal.

Apartment settings do not suit Keno. It takes too long to get him out to the bathroom, and because he is vision impaired, walking him through multiple hallways and elevators creates too much stress for him.

A home with access to a yard is what he's looking for, but a home with NO stairs or no access to stairs is very important due to his vision impairment.

Keno is such a lovely dog with a great personality and he deserves to have a human dote on him for whatever years he may have left.

Keno is looking for a forever home and his adoption fee is by donation to the right candidate. The right candidate must be able to afford his ongoing veterinary care, which includes purchasing Insulin, Vetoryl, and continuing with his fructosamine years, glucose curves, and ACTH tests when required.
