Kenna & Otis's Story

~ TRUE SURVIVORS, READY FOR THEIR FOREVER HOME SIDE BY SIDE
Norma’s careless neighbor has a dog that had a litter of puppies on the street. They did not care and gave some away, but the three weakest remained behind. She didn’t realize how bad things were because they were kept confined in a doghouse on the sidewalk, out of sight. When she finally saw them, they were in terrible condition and practically abandoned. She could not look away and took the three puppies immediately… but sadly, one of them passed away just hours later. They were covered in fleas and ticks, with skin wounds caused by the infestation. They were severely malnourished, dirty and full of parasites. Despite everything they had endured, they stayed close to each other, finding comfort in their tiny, fragile bond. They were rushed to the veterinarian and started on internal and external deworming, antibiotics, special nutrition, and vitamins. With proper care, love, and patience, they began to heal, together.

Kenna & Otis are 1 year old, little girl Kenna weighs 5 kilos (white with black and tan face) and her brother Otis (white with brown and tan face) 5.700, and they are Chihuahua/ Rat terrier mix beauties.

Today, Kenna and Otis are truly thriving. They play together, nap curled up side by side, and if one leaves the room, the other quickly follows. After losing their siblings and surviving neglect, they became each other’s comfort and safe place. Their bond is deep, pure, and beautiful. They have already lost so much, and so this bonded pair will remain together. These two are wonderful puppies: playful, independent, protective, and incredibly affectionate. They have a medium level of energy; they enjoy walks and playtime, but they’re just as happy relaxing on the couch with you at the end of the day. They get along well with men and women of all ages, though they can be a little shy at first when meeting new people. In their foster home, they don’t see strangers often, but when they do, they may start off timid only to reveal their sweet, loving nature once they feel safe. Kenna and Otis live peacefully with dogs of different sizes and ages, as well as cats. They are not aggressive at all. They mostly play with their canine siblings but coexist calmly with the cats and have never shown any negative behaviors toward them. Thunderstorms and fireworks make them slightly uneasy, but they are not noisy or reactive. They are currently learning to walk on a leash and still pull a bit, but they’re improving every day. One of their favorite things? Water! They love splashing and playing whenever their foster mom fills a container for them. They are used to having human company, but when left with their dog siblings for 5–6 hours, they do well. Like typical puppies, they may chew items left on the floor, so appropriate toys are important. Kenna and Otis are sweet, loyal companions just waiting for the right family to give them stability, patience, and love. If you’ve been thinking about adding love x2 to your life, these two will fill your home with double the joy, double the cuddles, and double the gratitude.

Kenna & Otis’s adoption fee is $1,000 for both, which includes their flight, spay/neuter, vaccinations, and full vetting.
