Kenickie's Story

Meet Kenickie — A Special Boy Looking for a Patient Home

Kenickie is a 4-year-old hairless sweetheart who recently came to us from a hoarding situation. His past has left him understandably fearful, and he’s looking for a very specific kind of forever family—someone willing to earn his trust at his pace.

New environments and unfamiliar people can be overwhelming for Kenickie. When frightened, his first instinct is to hide and avoid interaction, and he can be sensitive to being touched by people he doesn’t yet trust. If pushed beyond his comfort zone, he may fear bite (although this little guy only has a few teeth!).

Kenickie isn’t a dog who will immediately run into a stranger’s arms—and that’s okay. He needs someone experienced with fearful or undersocialized dogs who understands decompression, boundaries, and allowing a dog to initiate affection when he’s ready.

He’s also very much a homebody. He’s not looking for a busy social life or constant adventures. His perfect world is a predictable, peaceful home where he can establish his routine, find his favorite safe spot, and slowly learn that he’s finally somewhere he doesn’t have to be afraid.

We know there’s someone out there who will look at Kenickie and say, “You don’t have to love me today. I’ll give you the time you need.”

For the right person, watching this scared little boy finally feel safe will be something incredibly special.

Mother Nature Care Rescue's Adoption Policy
At Mother Nature Care Animal Rescue, our adoption process is designed to ensure the best match between our animals and their future families. Here's how it works: 1. **Application Submission**: Interested adopters start by completing an adoption application form available on our website. This helps us understand your lifestyle, preferences, and experience with pets. 2. **Application Review**: Our team reviews each application carefully to ensure it meets our adoption criteria. We may reach out for additional information or clarification if needed. 3. **Meet and Greet**: Approved applicants are invited to meet the animal they are interested in. This meeting helps determine if there is a good connection between the adopter and the pet. 4. **Home Visit**: A home visit may be conducted to ensure the living environment is safe and suitable for the pet. This is also an opportunity to address any concerns or questions you may have. 5. **Adoption Approval**: Once the application is approved and the home visit is completed, we finalize the adoption. Adopters sign an adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee, which helps cover the cost of the animal's care. 6. **Transition Support**: We provide resources and support to help with the transition, including advice on care, training, and integration into your home. 7. **Follow-Up**: Our commitment doesn’t end at adoption. We follow up to ensure the pet is adjusting well and offer ongoing support as needed. Our goal is to ensure each animal finds a forever home where they are loved and cared for throughout their lifetime. Thank you for considering adoption and helping us make a difference in the lives of these animals.
