Kemp's Story

Kemp is a funny, loving and cuddly, 1 year old, husky/shepherd cross.

He came into foster from northern Ontario.

Kemp is very strong, determined and smart. He could run all day if you let him. And if he gets to, he’s the best cuddliest buddy for the rest of the evening and night.

He sings the song of his people loudly and often when he sees something new outside, especially another dog. His vocals cannot be stopped at places like dog parks, the vet, and if his best friends are leaving or outside without him or there is prey in the yard!

Because of this, an apartment or town setting would not be a good fit.

He absolutely loves every dog he meets, so very much, so an equally energetic dog would be amazing for him, an older dog would be very annoyed at his endless energy as he loves to wrestle and chase!

In his foster home, he is OK with their very dog savvy cats. They put up with him, but if he’s bored he will chase, he does not harm them. He just wants to play.
Unfortunately, he has a very high prey drive outside and nothing can distract him from that and he should NOT be in a yard with loose ducks or chickens.

Kemp absolutely loves all the toys in the world! If he has lots of them, he is non-destructive to anything else. Boredom may cause him to go find a child’s toy to make his own He loves long, lasting bones and frozen peanut butter kongs!

He would benefit from someone being home often and someone very active who wants to run and hike and play tug of war. He has far too much energy to be home alone all day.

He loves all people at all times, but he really becomes attached to the one person who he exercises with, he wants a forever best friend and will follow that person like a shadow!

He is very treat motivated, especially real cooked meat and easy to train when you have that in your pocket! He can be picky about his dog food and loves a little bit of hot water and wet food mixed with his kibble, or, he may just leave his food all day.

He is well house trained and he knows basic commands like sit, lay down, shake a paw, stay, leave it, and take it, and out. His vocals are stunning! He would make the perfect forever best friend to a husky lover, who understands this breed!

Send us a message if you’d like to meet Kemp! ❤️

Underdog Railroad Canada's Adoption Policy
Our adoption fees vary depending on the expenses associated with that particular animal. We operate on a cost-recovery basis. Please contact us to confirm adoption fee if it is not posted. No animals are offered for free. All animals are adopted spayed/neutered if over 6 months of age. Those under 6 months of age are adopted under a spay and neuter contract and it is the adopter’s responsibility to ensure this is completed. Adoption contracts must be signed upon adoption and state that the animal is returned to UDR if circumstances ever change and the adopter can no longer care for the pet. Our process includes a completed application, a meet and greet with the animal and a home check upon adoption. Submitting an application for review does not guarantee an adoption will take place.
