Keeta's Story

AGE: 5-6 years

SEX: Female

BREED: Husky Mix

ENERGY LEVEL: Medium

DOG FRIENDLY: Yep!

CAT FRIENDLY?: Yep!

KID FRIENDLY?: Yep!

FOSTER IG: @2whiskers.1woof

Meet Keeta! This sweet, happy girl has a quiet charm that makes everyone who meets her fall in love. She has a gentle way of asking for affection, often sitting in front of you with a big smile on her face while silently requesting pets. Keeta adores attention and will happily headbutt you for more love, roll onto her back for belly rubs, or wiggle around on the carpet to scratch an itch. While she enjoys her daily adventures and loves going wherever her people go, she's also wonderfully independent and is just as content napping across the room while you go about your day. Keeta loves her walks, enjoys watching squirrels from afar, and is a big fan of Dentastix, cheese, and other delightfully stinky treats.

Keeta is house trained, does well when left home alone, and is an incredibly well-mannered companion. She's friendly when meeting new people and has calmly welcomed guests into the home. She currently lives with cats and coexists beautifully with them, generally ignoring one another as long as they respect her space and don't get too much in her face. Keeta is also dog friendly and has calm, neutral greetings with dogs on walks. She tends to prefer smaller dogs and appreciates companions who are polite and respectful. She's met children and done well with them, though she can become overwhelmed if lots of kids are all giving her attention at once. Keeta isn't bothered by traffic or city sounds and would likely adjust well to a busier neighbourhood.

On walks, Keeta does have a prey drive and may try to chase after small animals. She generally enjoys two to three walks a day, typically lasting 15-30 minutes each, and her foster has noticed her energy and enthusiasm continuing to grow. Keeta is also a bit of a foodie - although a surprisingly picky one! She knows exactly what she likes and isn't afraid to turn her nose up at treats that don't meet her standards.

Keeta is currently overweight and is working hard on her health journey. She is on a strict diet that will need to be maintained in her adoptive home, and her healthy weight is estimated to be around 50-55 pounds. As she continues reaching her goals, she's gaining even more energy and confidence each day. Keeta is a truly special dog with so much love to give, and whoever welcomes her into their family will be very lucky. With continued support and commitment to her health and wellbeing, Keeta is sure to thrive!

Think you might be the right fit to provide a loving home for Keeta? New Collar Collective's Adoption Policy
ADOPTION PROCESS 1. Complete and submit an adoption application. All applications will be screened, and applicants will receive an email response letting you know whether your application has been approved to move to the next step in our process or not. If you have not received a response from us, first check your spam/junk folder before sending us an email. 2. You will be asked to submit two personal references, and a vet reference where applicable, as part of our process. Please make sure to let them know that they may be contacted by one of our volunteers. Veterinarian clinics will require your permission to share any information with our team. 3. A phone interview will be scheduled with one of our adoption coordinators via email or phone. 4. Your adoption coordinator will connect with one of our volunteers to schedule a home visit. Home visits will be completed virtually or in-person depending on available resources. If a virtual home visit is completed and there are any outstanding questions or concerns, New Collar Collective reserves the right to do a follow up (in person) home visit. Volunteers conducting virtual home visits will be required to direct the home visit so we are assured they have seen all areas of the home. Volunteers conducting in-person home visits will be encouraged to bring a friend along for their safety. In this case, you will be notified in advance. 5. A meet & greet will be coordinated with the animal’s foster. All members of the household (including dogs) will be required to attend the meet and greet. 6. Post meet & greet If there are no further questions or concerns, applicants will contact their adoption’s coordinator to let them know if they would like to move forward with the adoption. Adopters will be contacted to provide all contract requirements. ADOPTION POLICIES The policies outlined below are guidelines and there may be instances where an exception can be made upon the agreement of the adoption management/Board of Directors. Periodically, New Collar Collective will revisit these guidance policies to ensure they still meet the intended needs of the rescue. We do not adopt to applicants who live outside of our adoption radius. We do not ship dogs. Adopters are responsible for picking up their newly adopted pet. All pets in your household must be spayed and neutered. All pets in your household must be up to date with mandatory vaccinations. We do not allow applicants to test out a cat/dog before adoption. We expect that applicants will take the necessary time to meet with the dog or cat, talk with the foster, and ask lots of questions. Our rescues have already been through so much, we feel it is in their best interest that trials do not occur. *Exception for Foster-to-Adopt applicants All members of the household must be present during the Home Visit and the Meet and Greet. We do not adopt to families with children under the age of 4. The full adoption fee is due at the time of adoption. We do not offer payment plans.
