Kaycee's Story

Meet Kaycee, a handsome and energetic young lad who is looking for a partner in crime to guide him through life. Kaycee is a "velcro dog" in the truest sense; he has a massive heart and a deep desire to be included in every single thing his humans are doing. Whether you are working in the yard or relaxing on the sofa, Kaycee will be right there by your side. Because he missed out on structure early in life, he is looking for an active, patient family committed to showing him the ropes. He is incredibly eager to please and learns at lightning speed, especially since he is highly food-motivated! While Kaycee is a total sweetheart, he is a big boy who is still learning his manners. He hasn’t quite mastered the art of sharing yet, so we recommend an adult-only home where his resource guarding and "counter surfing" tendencies can be managed with training and consistency. Due to his big, soulful voice, he isn't a good candidate for apartment living. He loves other dogs but is still learning how to navigate social boundaries. He would do well with a calm, confident canine sibling who can mentor him. Kaycee is fully house trained and has lived with cats before with no issues. Kaycee is essentially a blank slate with a lot of potential. He needs a family that understands he isn't "bad," he was just never given the roadmap to success. With a bit of patience, mutual respect, and plenty of exercise to burn off his high energy, Kaycee is going to be an absolutely incredible companion. Kaycee is more than ready to start his new chapter with a family who will give him the love and leadership he deserves. 💛

It Takes A Village Dog Rescue's Adoption Policy

Hopeful adopters must fill out an adoption application. All applications are screened and potential matches are contacted. Follow up questions are emailed. A phone call is set up to clarify any questions about the adoption process. At that point the fosters are provided the contact information for the potential adopters. They set up a meet and greet at the fosters home. During the meet the foster will tell the potential adopter the good, the bad. and the ugly about the dog... we want total transparency in order to have an open and successful adoption. After the meet we ask the fosters and the adopters their thoughts. If the adopter would like to proceed, their references are checked and a virtual home visit is conducted. If the adoptable dog has any sort of behavioural or medical issues a plan to address the issue would be required before adoption could proceed. If all is good then the adoption contract is sent out to be signed and returned along with the adoption fee. The foster is given the green light to arrange pick up.
