KAY's Story

Breed Chihuahua
Age 4 yrs estimate
Adoption Fee $225
Weight 5. 4 lbs

Special Kay — now simply Kay — has already beaten the odds. ❤️

To recap for everyone following her journey: Kay was rescued just hours before she was scheduled to be euthanized. After ARF pulled her to safety, she was immediately taken to the vet where new X-rays revealed several broken ribs that had spread apart. Thanks to our amazing veterinary team and the surgery she desperately needed, Kay is now healing beautifully.

Her staples came out this week, and this brave girl is finally ready to find her forever home.

We are incredibly thankful to everyone who donated toward her care. Nearly $200 was raised, but her medical bill totaled close to $1,000. Every donation helped give Kay the second chance she deserved.

During her recovery, Kay has been working hard and making wonderful progress. She is now crate trained and can make it through the night without accidents in her kennel. She has also been learning how to play with other dogs and is doing very well with going potty outside. Like any dog adjusting to a new home, she’ll need patience and reminders while learning your routine.

Kay can be a little vocal when first meeting new people but treats quickly win her over—and if you sit down, she’ll happily climb right into your lap for love and comfort. She is not food aggressive and does well eating alongside other dogs.

This miracle girl has come so far and deserves a family who will show her the love she’s fought so hard for.

Adoption fee: $225

If you’re interested in giving Kay the forever home she deserves, please complete an application today. 🐾

Breed Chihuahua
Age 4 yrs estimate
Adoption Fee $225
Weight 5. 4 lbs

Currently ARF does not adopt out of state.

How to Adopt a Dog from ARF
Animal Rescue of Fresno is a Volunteer Managed & Operated Dog Rescue.
We are available by Appointment Only.
Adoptions begin with an Approved Application.
You can find the application on our website at www.arf-fresno.com

Application can be found in the drop-down menu above, click "ADOPT"
Mobile users click three lines at top of page to see "ADOPT"
Business Hours: By Appointment Only

We will review each submitted application, then contact the approved adopter via email.
