Katinka's Story
Katinka came to us from a metro Atlanta Shelter after being found running loose on a major road. She came in with a double ear infection and hematoma.
After major surgery on both ears, lots of antibiotics, test, and several vet visits, she is doing great and feeling much better. Her ears are almost completely healed and we hope she can get out of the cone on Monday. She will continue prednisone (given every other day) for the next month. This is so her new food has a chance to get in her system. She has been put on a prescription food to make sure her ear issues don’t return. The vet feels that part of the reason she got the original ear infection was due to a food allergy. The original infection was left untreated and that’s what caused her issues and then the hematomas. Unfortunately, we could not get her ears to stand back up. There was just too much damage so she will have floppy ears.
Katinka is an amazing pup. She is one of the sweetest babies I’ve ever met. She absolutely adores kids and puppies. She gets along with any dog and doesn’t seem to mind my cat. She does well in her crate and loves being outside sunbathing. She loves car rides and getting loved on by anyone that is willing to just sit and pet her. She would be fine in any household but would probably most enjoy being with kids and another dog.
She is up to date on all shots, deworming, microchipped, spayed, and had the one year heartworm prevention shot. She is on flea/tick prevention and has had a full blood work panel, fecal, and many other test. She has nice open nares so no breathing issues at all. (Which is great, especially in a French bulldog ?) She is estimated to be 3-4 years old and is a Thailand import (so she does have the longer nose and back) this is great because we don’t see as many spine or breathing issues in these types of frenchies. She is a chocolate merle tan point. She weighs 20lbs.
We hope she will be released from our vets care on Monday and will be available for adoption at that time. We are currently accepting adoption applications. There is an adoption fee.
Warning: she will have to be on a prescription food. The food is $114.99 (before tax) for 25lbs. I have an unlimited prescription for the food that can be transferred to the new owners so they can continue to purchase her prescription food. She will be sent to her new home with whatever is left of the prescription food we have purchased for her already.
