Katie's Story
Her Story: From Courtroom Evidence to a Second Chance at Life
Imagine spending nearly two years of your life sitting in a shelter kennel not because you did anything wrong, but simply because you were considered "evidence."

Katie and her friend were rescued from a heartbreaking hoarding situation back in 2024. Because her case had to wind its way through a slow court system, Katie had to wait behind bars for almost two years just for the chance to look for a family. When the case finally ended, the shelter overcrowded and facing impossible choices put Katie on the euthanasia list. She was just one hour away from losing her life when Dalis to the Rescue stepped in and said, "Not today."

Humans have failed Katie for a long time. First, by neglecting her in a hoarding home, and second, by making her wait years for freedom. But Katie hasn't lost her spirit. She is a survivor, and she is ready to show the world how resilient a dog's heart can be.

The Medical Stuff: Megaesophagus (It Sounds Scarier Than It Is!)
Katie has a medical condition called Megaesophagus. This just means her esophagus lacks the muscle tone to push food down to her stomach on its own. To keep her safe and healthy, Katie has a special routine: she eats her meals after medication and standing up!

The Bailey Chair: Katie has her very own custom high-chair, called a Bailey Chair. She happily sits in it for breakfast and dinner, which uses gravity to help her food go down properly.

Her Chair Goes With Her! Don't worry her special chair will go home with her, and we will teach you exactly how to use it.

The Reality: It takes just a few extra minutes of routine out of your day, but it means the world to Katie. To the rest of the world, she was passed over because of her needs. To the right person, this routine is just a small act of love.

Katies Perfect Home
Katie is a sweet soul who has known a lot of uncertainty. She is looking for an adopter who understands that routine is her best friend. Because she was saved at the absolute last second, every day to Katie is now a gift. She wants nothing more than a cozy bed, a consistent routine, and a human who promises to never let her down again.

Katie can be adopted on her own, but she would love a home that can give her the stability she has been denied for the last two years.

Could you be the one to show Katie that humans can be kind?

If interested in adopting, please go to dalistotherescue.com/adopt and fill out a pre-adoption application.

For any questions, CALL (989) 463 9797.
