The pair were discovered near a pickleball court at a tennis club in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, exhausted, dehydrated, and struggling to survive under the relentless Caribbean sun. It was only mid-morning, yet temperatures were already approaching 100 degrees.<br/><br/>Tiny Katie was in especially rough shape. Weak from hunger, thirst, and exhaustion, she could barely move. Through it all, Sadie never left her side. Despite being hungry and dehydrated herself, she remained fiercely devoted to protecting her baby.<br/><br/>Rescuing the pair proved to be no easy task. Although both dogs are small, Sadie's determination to keep Katie safe made it clear just how strong a mother's love can be. Eventually, rescuers were able to safely pick up Katie and place her in the car. The moment Sadie saw her baby inside, she ran straight to the vehicle and jumped in all by herself, choosing to trust the humans who were helping her family.<br/><br/>Since that day, Katie and Sadie have been cherished by their foster family in Puerto Rico and have blossomed into happy, affectionate companions. Katie loves gentle attention, cuddles, and quiet affection from her people. She enjoys playing with other dogs and finds great comfort in canine companionship. At night, her favorite place to sleep is curled up next to her mom.<br/><br/>Because Katie is deeply bonded with Sadie, our hope is that they can find a forever home together. Their relationship is truly special, and watching them interact is enough to melt anyone's heart.
