Katie's Story
Katie came to us with a broken femur after an ACO at a shelter called us. Katie was still on stray hold, but we decided we'd pay for her surgery even if her owners reclaimed her so she could get the help she needed right away. The surgery went well, but her owners never came for her.

Katie was extremely shut down when she got to us and over time she did open up. She learned to trust us and really loved the other dogs at Pearl's Place. A man and his teenage son adopted Katie and she really did well with them for a while. The problem was that they weren't home enough and Katie started going backwards in her progress, experiencing some separation anxiety resulting in her breaking out of a wire crate and hurting herself in the process.

If you're interested in Katie please know that it may take some time and patience, but she is the sweetest girl. Even at her most shut down and hurt she was never aggressive. She'd do well in a home with someone who is home more often than not or who she can go places with. Older kids would be best just for her comfort levels with her being unsure of high energy people.

She would do well with another dog in the house as it helps her to open up and trust her people.
