Katana's Story
Katana is an amazing, 2 year old American Bully. Amazing, amazing, amazing dog.

She originated with a backyard breeder, who sold her to someone that had her for most of her young life. Then they sold her to an unhoused person, who had her for a couple weeks, but opted to surrender her to rescue, thankfully.

Katana is a full body wiggle dog that is just living life happily. She's friendly with everyone she meets and good with dogs she sees in passing and I would be comfortably placing her in a home with dogs of equal size or larger.

At her spay October 28th, Katana weighed in at 26.3 kg / 58 pounds. She's short and squat and quite a thickk girl. Her vaccines are good until October 2028.

Katana would do best with someone home most often as she does protest being alone, though will settle down. But her preference is to be with her human(s) so that's the lifestyle I'll be adopting her into. She is also sound sensitive, so condos/apartments are not going to be her vibe. A quiet home setting without a lot of coming and going will help settle her anxious soul. And a backyard to play in and catch some spring and summer sunbeams would make her heart so happy.

Katana eats a sensitive skin kibble that is a salmon protein, but she does have a chicken allergy we were told on intake, so we have avoided all chicken. We've not seen any allergy issues.

Katana is a really amazing dog that deserves the security of a for-always home with a dedicated adopter that understands and has a love for the breed.

FROM THE FOSTER:

Katana is a sweet and loving dog. She gets very excited when she meets new people. She can jump sometimes and sometimes does happy growls in excitement and she is working on being more polite.

She loves to sit in your lap or right next to you as close as humanely possible.

She loves her dog bed and will pibble nibble and knead her bed until she falls asleep.

She knows " sit" and "shake paw" commands when she arrived and learning commands currently. Katana seems to enjoy short training sessions and she is treat motivated.

Katana is still learning a routine and potties outside 8/10. She is not interested in long walks. She will walk around the block and get the zoomies a little but not super interested in exploring very far. She pulls on leash when excited.

What seems to interest her the most is affection, treats, having 10-20 min of playtime and then cuddling on the couch. She is a couch potato. She plops herself right onto you, head on your chest or lap and settles in happily. A true sweetheart.

She likes to chew up and destroy her toys. Professional squeaker extractor. She enjoys taking stuffing out. She can be vocal while playing and growl. Zero toy aggression.

Her current routine is wake up around 8-9am outside for potty, breakfast which she eats a small amount the then grazes throughout the day. Zero food aggression. She is out again in the afternoon and again around 6-7pm and then once more when I get home from work around 2am.

Katana is a happy dog but can be sensitive about being alone. She sometimes cries for 10- 20 min when left home alone and then settles and goes to sleep.

She is great without a crate in the home. She has access to the living room and kitchen and does not get into trouble when alone so far. She has been watched on my home camera and she waits by the door for a bit and then just sleeps. She does not like to be alone and would rather be right next to you, even to the bathroom.

She has been reactive to hearing noises outside the apartment such as doors slamming and hearing neighbours voices. She barks and growls with all her fur standing up until reassured it's ok. I have opened the door to show her no one is there and she calms down.

She has startled herself looking at a mirror.

She likes car rides. She also prefers to sleep in the bed with you or on the couch at night.

------------------------------------

ADOPTION FEE INCLUDES: spay/neuter, deworming, flea/tick prevention, vaccinations, dentals if needed or any added surgical needed surgical care, food, nose to tail health exam, toys, leash|collar, winter coat (seasonal), poop bags, dishes and 30 days of Trupanion pet insurance with immediate coverage on adoption day for any illness or injury not pre-existing.

----------------------------------------

To note: the above description is relevant to this dog in it's current & previous setting. Home changes & adopter personalities can bring out different behaviours not previously seen.
