Karl's Story
A GOOD VET REFERENCE AND HEARTWORM PREVENTION ARE REQUIRED

If you are interested in adopting, please cut and paste the link below to fill out an adoption application:

https://form.jotform.com/92916416469165

After the application is processed and approved, a home visit and meet and greet with the dogs will be scheduled. If there are any fencing issues, make sure that repairs are done prior to the home visit. Typically, the adoption is finalized the day after the home visit and meet and greet. Out of area adopters would need to drive/fly in to meet the dogs and adopt.

DOB: 8/12/2021
Weight: 11#

Karl is vaccinated, dewormed, defleaed, neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative (7/31/25) and on monthly heartworm prevention.

He was found as a stray near downtown Houston. No owner was located and so he was surrendered to a local private shelter. Due to his behavior/ biting of shelter staff (not breaking the skin), he wouldn't make it to adoptions. So, I was asked if I would take him. That was in August and I've been working with him since.
He does have a little barrier and fear aggression and some standard little dog attitude. I can reach into his crate and pick him up and then he gives me kissies.
So, I think that it can be managed with a patient and understanding home that will allow him to adjust at his own pace. I'd be leery to trust people also, knowing what all he's been through already.
Definitely no kids though.
He walks great on a leash. Good in the car. Seems to be house trained here and is for sure crate trained. Happy to chew his Benebone and burrow in the blankies. He has a fun quirky personality and gets along with all of the other small fosters in his playgroup. The family that found him noted that he was housetrained and got along great with their large dogs. He would probably be fine with cats also.
