Kane's Story

FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State. We are a local foster home based rescue.

Kane is a delightful guy who will win you over with just one look. He is a friend to everyone he meets, dogs and people, and he fits in everywhere he goes. Kane would love a family that will include him in their plans. Whether it's going for a car ride to a weekend destination or lounging on the couch this guy is the best sidekick ever. He has always slept on his person's bed and will be so happy if this can continue in his new home. Kane loves relaxing in the fresh air and sunshine, therefore, he will need a securely fenced back yard to keep him safe.

Kane loves the company of other dogs and will be happiest in a home with a canine companion or two. We're not sure if he has any experience with cats but he is such a gentle soul that we think he would be respectful towards a resident feline. Kane has lived with children and would be fine with dog savvy children over the age of 8 who understand the importance of respecting animals.

Kane recently received a Senior Wellness Exam with bloodwork. He also received a dental with multiple extractions. A soft food diet is recommended. Kane also has immature cataracts in both eyes. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on his vaccines. Kane is 9 years old and weighs 18 pounds.

Please note, we have approximately a 200 mile adoption radius from Stanwood WA for our Senior Dogs. Save-A-Mutt may limit this distance based on the long term needs of this pet. We don’t adopt out of state except to the Vancouver BC area. We don’t ship dogs. Once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up their dog. For questions about this dog please call Elizabeth Woche, Senior and Special Needs Dog Coordinator, at 425-974-9479

Save-A-Mutt's Adoption Policy
Save-A-Mutt is a Foster Based rescue. All our dogs are in foster homes, there is no facility to visit. All adopters are required to fill out an application. As we review the application, we may have questions - and prefer email to ask/answer them. So please check your email regularly. We may remove adoptable animals off of Petfinder while we work on applications - but will contact you to let you know. We like to have one good app per pet as not to disappoint people. It can take a couple days to finish an application, depending on your references, etc. Please let your references know that will be sending emails - they sometime go to junk mail. We enjoy open communication, but we are a volunteer organization, so please be patient. Once we receive all the information we need, we will schedule a phone interview, home check, etc. Thank you and we will be in touch! Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make acceptions only with the approval of the foster home.
