Kane's Story

Hi there! My name is Kane, and I'm a gregarious, smart, alert, active 70-pound brindle Akita/ Australian Cattle Dog mix fella who was born in February 2019. I'm beautifully marked with a white bib, white mustache, 4 white paws, and a white-tipped tail.
Like Akitas, I'm burly and heavy-boned with an imposing stature, although I weigh significantly less than the standard Akita male. (I also lack the proverbial corkscrew tail of most Akitas.) My head is broad and massive. My erect ears contribute to an expression of alertness, a hallmark of Akitas. We Akitas thrive on human companionship, and although they are usually quiet, I like to "talk" to my humans. Plus I'm great with other dogs, which is not like a typical Akita.
Like Australian Cattle Dogs, I'm true-blue loyal, famously smart, ever alert. I'm sturdy, strong, and agile -- although I weigh more than the usual ACD male. My boundless energy and supple gait make me an excellent running partner. I do need to be placed in an active family who likes to exercise or to participate in dog-sporting events to keep me mentally and physically fit.
I got separated from my family and was cold, starving, and alone during Arctic Storm Uri, but hopefully next time my family will be found because I'm now microchipped. I'm grateful that the Good Samaritan who rescued me brought me to Miss Donna because she's lavished me with warm shelter, yummy groceries, and plenty of TLC. I know she will find me a tremendous new home. Please arrange to meet me right away -- I'm anxious to "talk" to you.
Kane is updated on shots, neutered, dewormed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and fully trained. His adoption fee is $250 for dogs older than 9 months. An application must be filled out prior to adoption.
