Kally Kanal's Story
Meet Kally Kanal - 60 Pounds of Strength, Snuggles, and Second Chances

When we think about why someone would abandon Kally in a canal-or how she ended up there with no one looking for her-we can't find the answer. What we do know is that Kally's story didn't start easy, but her happy ending is still waiting to be written.

At just 2 years old, this short, stout 60-lb Pit Bull mix has already survived more than most dogs ever will. She was found abandoned in a canal-unable to walk, her face swollen, and one eye badly infected. A group of compassionate college students spotted her, called for help, and when no one came, they climbed down and carried her to safety. That single act of kindness began her second chance, and Take Paws Rescue stepped in to continue the journey.

Since that day, Kally has blossomed into a loving, gentle companion who lives for affection and treats. (Give her a milkbone and you're instantly her best friend.) She's solid and muscular, but her heart is soft-she loves to snuggle, rest her head on your lap, and stay close without ever being overbearing.

Kally's Highlights:
Excellent on a leash-calm, quiet, and unbothered by other dogs
Rides well in the car-hops in, lies down, and enjoys the ride
Crate trained-no fuss going in, no accidents while her foster is at work
Knows "sit" like a pro, especially when treats are involved
Dog friendly and doing great with her foster brothers
Kid friendly and gentle with everyone she meets
Working on playful manners but always kind-hearted
Spayed, up to date on vaccines, and currently undergoing slow-kill heartworm treatment (covered by the rescue and not affecting her playtime or health)

At home, Kally is a quiet, affectionate snugglebug. She'll happily curl up in bed all night, nap on her dog bed, or relax in her kennel. She's not a big licker but will give a kiss when prompted, and she loves her chew bones and treats. Her playful side comes out in silly growls when she's trying to get your attention to play.

From the canal to the couch, Kally has proven herself resilient, loyal, and full of love. She's strong, brave, and ready to move on from the past that tried to break her.

Help us write Kally's happy ending-she's ready for the forever love she's always deserved.

PLEASE READ BELOW:

If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, the first step is to complete an application and read all of our FAQs:

https://www.takepawsrescue.org/adopt

Please note: Information to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application.
*An inquiry, questions or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application*
All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info will be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the high volume of introductions/questions received we ask you to submit an application (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue).

The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention.
For more on this, or for additional information, including the adoption process and our adoption fee scale for all our adoptable pets (including an explanation about Benefactor Dogs), please see our FAQs page:

https://www.takepawsrescue.org/faq

Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as our website, Chewy, Pet Finder, and others. These are in no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed.

***Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters across the South, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our animals live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it's the perfect match!
