Kali's Story

Sweet, happy, timid, soft and sensitive; Kali is about 9 months old and one of the bestest pups you will ever meet. Her story, as far as we know, starts at a shelter in San Antonio TX where she was adopted as a puppy by a family living in an apartment. As she grew over the next few months, her activity level became too much for her current situation and she was listed on a local rehoming FB page and that’s where we found our spotted beauty. She needed a rescue; we saw a fluffy puppy with spots and speculated she might be an English Setter mix. She definitely has the activity level of an ES, she easily logs 50,000+ steps a day on her Fi GPS collar, including daily walks which she loves. Her foster Dad was curious so he ran a DNA test and one of her parents was indeed spotted, but turns out one of those “other spotted dogs”, a Dalmatian. The other parent was mostly San Antonio street dogs with a touch of country dog.

Kali is good with other dogs, she loves them but they need to be tolerant of puppy antics and a kiddo that is super friendly and still learning doggy social skills. She’s also good with cats, but she may want to play with them, which some cats won’t like; the cats in her temp foster home were very tolerant of her. She loves people though she can be a bit wary and will bark upon first meeting strangers; she will warm up and bond very quickly. When she knows you, she will shower you with kisses, lots of kisses.

Kali is a joy to train, she’s treat motivated and eager to please. She absolutely loves playing with her stuffed toys so that’s a must in her new home. Kali is crate trained and rides well in the car tethered. Her housetraining, with a move to another home, will likely need a refresher and you should be able to give her regular potty breaks and encouragement. Kali will do best in a home with another active and playful dog and that will also help her expend some of her puppy energy. A medium sized fenced yard is a must for this active girl. She’d like a person that is home a lot so she can get out for regular romps and potty breaks in the yard. She’s going to want her person outside with her. Kali has lived with small children though she is still a mouthy puppy and should be expected to take food from a child and steal their toys so she will do better with 9+ year old children.

Kali is about as perfect as you could expect a puppy to be and will be a joy for the right active person/family.
