**Junior is in a foster home, not at the shelter!**<br/><br/>Special Needs? Yes. Hard to live with? Not at all!<br/><br/>Meet Junior- a sweet seven-year-old Cocker Spaniel who is blind. He lost his person when his owner passed away, and around the same time, he also lost his vision. When Junior arrived at the shelter, he was understandably confused and needed time to adjust to his new surroundings.<br/><br/>A wonderful volunteer opened her home to him, and he has made tremendous progress. He has learned his routines and navigates familiar spaces surprisingly well. He is completely housebroken, quiet, gentle, and easy to have around.<br/><br/>He takes treats from your hand very gently and loves to cuddle. He gets around by using his other senses and may gently bump into things while learning a new environment. In unfamiliar places, he will need supervision and basic safety precautions, such as baby gates near stairs or drop-offs. Once he becomes familiar with a space, he grows much more confident.<br/><br/>Junior can even manage stairs with some guidance. Simply tell him “stairs” and help him get started—he quickly understands what to do.<br/><br/>He is dog-friendly and may enjoy living with a tolerant, easygoing canine companion who will not mind an occasional bump. A smaller home or apartment could be a good fit for him, provided his environment is safe and consistent.<br/><br/>He does not know that he is “special needs.” He simply knows that he loves people, treats, cuddles, and being close to his family.
