Junie's Story

Meet Junie – Your Tiny Shadow with a Big Heart

Life wasn't always easy for little Junie. This adorable 2-year-old, 9-pound Maltese mix was found wandering the streets of Detroit as a stray before making her way to an overcrowded shelter. Like many small dogs suddenly thrown into a loud and unfamiliar environment, Junie was understandably frightened and unsure of the world around her.

Once she realized she was safe, Junie's true personality began to shine. She is a sweet, social little lady who absolutely loves attention and is happiest when she's close to her people. Whether she's soaking up pets, following you from room to room, or curling up nearby after a busy day, Junie is ready to be someone's devoted companion.

Junie gets along well with other dogs and has met cats without any concerns. Because of her petite size, we believe she would do best with older, dog-savvy children who understand how to respectfully interact with a small dog.

She has demonstrated a good understanding of house manners, is crate trained, and rides wonderfully in the car, making her an easy companion for errands or adventures. She's still working on building confidence and polishing her leash-walking skills, but with patience, consistency, and plenty of encouragement, she's making great progress. She would not do well with an invisible fence or a tether system.

Like many Maltese-type dogs, Junie will require regular professional grooming to keep her soft coat healthy, comfortable, and free from mats.

All Junie is looking for now is what every dog deserves—a family who will continue showing her that life is full of love, kindness, and belly rubs. In return, she'll reward you with endless affection, unwavering companionship, and a heart that's ready to belong to someone forever.

If you're searching for a sweet little best friend who will happily make you the center of her world, Junie is ready to meet the family who will love her furever.

Junie is:
Current on Bordetella, Distemper, and Rabies
Dewormed
Heartworm Tested: Negative
Receiving Heartworm and Flea Prevention
Microchipped
Scheduled for spay surgery at our partner veterinary office on 8/4.

ADOPTION FEE: $375

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PET, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE HTTP://FUREVERTAILS.COM. Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. We process applications ONLY - there is no guarantee that you will get a response to an inquiry.

Many of the animals in our foster program come to us with limited or unknown histories. We make every effort to evaluate each animal's temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different.

While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program.

FUREVER TAILS IS A NON-PROFIT, NO-KILL, FOSTER HOME BASED ANIMAL RESCUE BASED OUT OF OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, MI. OUR FOSTER ANIMALS ARE LIVING IN FOSTER HOMES AND TREATED LIKE FAMILY UNTIL THEY FIND THEIR OWN FUREVER FAMILIES. OUR ADOPTION PROECESS REQUIRES AN APPLICATION TO BE COMPLETED AND APPROVED BEFORE A MEET-N-GREET WITH THE ANIMAL CAN TAKE PLACE. ADOPTION FEES ARE NECESSARY TO HELP US COVER VETTING COSTS FOR OUR RESCUED ANIMALS.
