June Carter Cash - Fostered in SE Nebraska's Story
Meet June Carter Cash

June Carter Cash is a tranquil, tender-hearted girl looking for a calm and quiet home where she can finally relax and feel safe.

Sudden loud noises still startle her, and when the world feels overwhelming, she looks for a cozy hiding spot. While the other dogs in her foster home romp and wrestle outside, June is usually happiest curled up quietly in a corner of the house, keeping a watchful eye on her people.

And people? She loves them.

June may be timid at first, but give her a little patience and kindness and she melts into affection. Once she trusts you, she absolutely adores snuggles and gentle attention.

What was her life like before rescue? We don't really know. From the look of her, she has likely had litters of puppies, but beyond that, her past is a mystery. What we do know is that she is learning what comfort, safety, and love feel like.

She walks nicely on a leash and is potty trained, using a dog door like a pro.

June is a beagle/ hound mix with all the classic beagle charm — soulful brown eyes, tan eyebrows, a black saddle, and that sweet rounded muzzle. But at 45 pounds, she's bigger than your average beagle. It's almost as if someone stretched out a beagle and sprinkled her with freckles and ticking. We suspect there may be some coonhound mixed in there somewhere.

She is not crate trained, but she has been trustworthy in the home and is not destructive. She has not been around children or cats, though she would likely do fine with cats and can be cat-tested if needed. Because loud noises make her nervous, a home with small children may not be the best fit.

When June first arrived in rescue, she was diagnosed with ehrlichiosis, a common tick-borne illness, but she has completed treatment and recovered well. She is heartworm negative and remains on monthly prevention.

For someone looking for a soft, steady companion with warm eyes, quiet loyalty, and just a little country-music soul, June Carter Cash may be the perfect match.

The Basics:

Approximately 45 pounds
Spayed
Up to date on vaccinations and microchipped
Approximately 5 years old
Potty trained
Heartworm negative and on prevention

June is fostered in southeast Nebraska, and transport for approved adopters may be arranged.
