Jules's Story

Meet Jules! Jules is just 9 months old; he was surrendered to Save a Lab Rescue when his owner’s declining health made it impossible to properly care for a young Lab.

Jules has the energy of a young dog but he is very respectful and learns boundaries quickly. He is house trained and crate trained. Jules is crated when his foster mom is away from the house, but when he is home with his foster family, he shows no signs at all of being destructive. By the way, Jules loves a car ride!

He is still learning how to walk well on a leash, but he improves with each outing! His foster mom walks Jules with a Gentle Leader head halter, as he can be strong. He is 65 pounds, and he does well with the head halter. Jules is not reactive to other dogs they pass on the street. He is shy when he meets new people but only takes a minute to warm up. Jules is still skeptical of children; he seems wary of them but respectfully and just hides from them, no aggression. This is most likely because he has not had much, if any, experience around small kids so a family with older kids (or no kids) would be best for him.

Jules is great with other dogs and seems to gain some confidence around dogs. He was deferential to the foster’s dogs and would like a home where the resident dog, if there is one, does not bully him. Jules is great with cats!

Jules is still young and will need to have continued training and consistency. After he gets over his initial shyness, he likes to run and play. He likes to play ball in the house and hasn’t chewed up toys or anything he shouldn’t. He does need to be reminded not to counter surf (who can resist all of those delicious food smells??). Jules likes to hide under things, like the desk or bed, and he LOVES to give kisses to the other dogs in his foster home!

Jules would love to join your family if you promise to take him on all of your adventures, give him all the smooches and let him live his best doggie life!

Jules is available for adoption on, or after, 4/1/26

If you are interested in Jules and are an approved adopter, please contact your Adoption Coordinator to be added to Jule’s list. If you are a not yet approved, you can find our adoption guidelines and application at: www.savealabrescue.org

Jules is fostered in RI

Our Mission
We are a network of lab lovers located throughout the East Coast, whose mission is to rescue labrador retrievers from high-kill shelters in the South and place them in permanent, loving homes. We pull labrador retrievers and lab mixes from rural shelters who are scheduled to be euthanized, usually due to lack of space...
