Judy's Story
JUDY JUDY JUDY, BEAUTY BEAUTY BEAUTY

Judy we were told, was purchased as a purebred Australian Shepherd. We think perhaps her breeders were confused. She looks like a purebred Border Collie except for her docked tail, which is not a natural dock. Whatever breed cocktail or not she is, we know for sure that she is gorgeous, extremely sweet, curious, very teachable and is looking for a home that needs a dog that can keep up with a busy lifestyle and will include her in all aspects of that lifestyle. Judy is 12 months old, so she will have many years to give to that person or family.

Judy was purchased as a gift and was probably not the best choice of breed for someone who does not have alot of time to spend working with a dog who is bred to work. She is kept outdoors and has had little in the way of obedience training but proved, in spite of this, to be a brilliant student during her evaluation and we were doubly pleased to see she was curious about small animals such as rabbits and chickens but felt no need to chase or herd them. She was very pleased to meet all the dogs we introduced her to and gave the cat space and respect when he introduced himself to her.

For having only been on a leash for the second time in her life, she was an excellent student and while a bit all over the place with curiosity, did not fight, pull or balk. She knows a few basic commands, like sit and stay, did well traveling to the center even though it was only her second time in a car, seems to be toy driven and is very curious about what is around her without being pushy or rude. She is confident but true to border collie breeding, can be a bit skeptical for a moment or two when introduced to something brand new.

Judy is not a dog for someone looking for a book reading companion, an all day foot warmer or who is gone most of the day. She is going to be a wonderful companion for someone who likes to have a dog along for the ride and feels bad when the dog must be left at home. She wants to be your best friend and a part of your life, not a backyard ornament that is only brought in for feeding. If you want a friend she is your girl. She is smart enough to compete in agility, obedience or even trick competitions and loyal enough to be perfectly happy by the campfire, on the fishing boat, in the truck passenger seat or on the hiking trail.

You can apply for Judy at www.wagstorichesanimalrescue.org. She is spayed, up to date on vaccination and ready to give her heart and soul to her new best friend. Her adoption fee is $160
