Joyce's Story

Hi, I’m Joyce — Still Figuring This Whole “Dog Life” Thing Out
Hi friends... my name is Joyce. I’m about 2 years old, weigh 27 pounds, and I came to Freedom Frenchie Rescue as part of a breeder release. There were 11 of us that came in together. Yea you prob know the Stranger Things crew! Before rescue, life was very different, so now I’m learning what it means to be a real dog — the kind that gets love, treats, toys, and a family. I’m a little shy at first, but inside of me there is a whole lot of personality just waiting to cross the finish line.
My Personality
I’m still finding my way, but every day I get braver. When someone walks through the door I get SO excited because I love meeting new people. Sometimes I can’t help but jump around because my little body is full of happiness I’m still learning how to control. I might start out timid, but once I feel safe you’ll see my spunky side start to come out. I am a fluff ball! Like seriously! Round fluffy excited lover! Have you seen my tail? Well that’s the cutest part about me, some of the other girls have tail envy! Hope you like Peter Rabbit haha!
I’m Definitely a Pack Girl
I really love being around other dogs. They help me understand how to do things — like play, explore, and just relax. My friend Darla has been trying to teach me how to “dog,” and I follow her around learning the ropes.
I’m not quite playing with toys on my own yet, but I do like joining in when the other dogs get excited. Having dog friends makes me feel safe and brave. One thing I discovered that I absolutely LOVE is water. Baby pools are my favorite thing ever. I’ll stretch out and lay right in the water to cool off and relax. It feels so good, especially on warm days.
Food, Treats & Learning New Things
Meal time is easy for me. I eat from my own bowl like a good girl and don’t worry about anyone else’s food. When I first got here, treats were confusing. I didn’t really know what they were, so I was nervous to take them. But now? Oh yeah... I love treats and I don’t hesitate anymore. I’m also doing really well with potty training and use the doggy door like a pro.
My Safe Space
Crates actually make me feel comfortable; I lived in one for a long time. That big world out there is scary! Having a cozy enclosed space helps me relax while I keep building my confidence and learning that the world is safe. I am getting better every day! My foster dad takes me out and I am learning how to walk on a leash, most of the time I just follow the other doggies! Every day I feel a little more brave than the day before.
Medically Healthy
I did have an ear infection, and the rescue started me on ear drops and meds right away! I was just digging and digging at them. I feel so much better now and guess what there is nothing else wrong!! I even had heartworm testing done because the last time the rescue saved some of my friends 2 came back with a positive test. I am good to go!
The Kind of Home I Dream About
I would love a home with other friendly dogs because I really thrive when I have a pack around me. They help me learn and give me confidence. My new family just needs to be patient and loving while I keep growing into the amazing dog I’m meant to be.
Just Wait Until I Cross That Finish Line
Right now I’m a little shy, a little cautious... but my happy, playful personality is right there waiting. Each day I get closer to that finish line where all the confidence, joy, and love inside me finally gets to shine.
And when it does... I promise I’m going to be pretty amazing.
Joyce is vaccinated, spay and microchipped, she is being fostered in Scottsdale, AZ. Her adoption donation fee is $1250.00 and you can apply for her at freedomfrenchierescue.org.
