Joy (She'll Get There)'s Story
Her name is Joy. She will get to that part. Eventually.

Joy is the fourth and final sibling in what we have officially stopped calling a coincidence and started calling a personality type. Where Nick is interviewing candidates, Holly is reviewing applications, and Merry is cautiously warming up — Joy is still deciding whether to come out from behind the kennel and acknowledge that this is happening.

She is the shyest of the four. We say this with love and full transparency.
But here's what else she is: gentle, harmless, and quietly extraordinary for the person patient enough to find out. She has never shown a single flash of aggression. Not a growl, not a snap — nothing. Her world is just a little overwhelming right now, and she needs someone who understands that and doesn't take it personally.

Joy does beautifully with other dogs. Dogs, she gets. People are still a work in progress — specifically, you are a work in progress, from her perspective. She'll come around. She always does. She just operates on a timeline that politely ignores your schedule.

What Joy needs is the most patient human we can find. Someone who measures success in inches, not miles. Someone who will sit quietly on the floor with a treat and absolutely nowhere to be. Someone who understands that the moment Joy finally chooses to trust you will be one of the best moments of your year — maybe longer.

She's called Joy for a reason. You just have to wait for her to show you.

She's worth it. We promise she knows it too — she's just not ready to say so yet.

Approved applications will be contacted to make an appointment for a 'meet and greet'. If the pup selects you, a second trip to the shelter will be required to pick them up and complete the adoption process.

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, had a wellness exam from our veterinarian, have been treated for fleas/worms and are up to date on vaccinations.

Please call the adoption team at 360-660-4661 or email doghousenbpaws@gmail.com if you have any questions.

Please LIKE us on Facebook at NORTH BEACH PAWS or visit our website at northbeachpaws.org. Thank you for choosing to rescue!
