Joy's Story

Meet Joy, a 6-year-old Dachshund with a heart as sweet as her name. This gentle girl came to us as a retired breeding dog, and she’s now ready to enjoy the love and comfort of a home all her own.

Joy is a true cuddle bug who loves being close to her people. While she hasn’t been exposed to many new faces in her life, she greets everyone she meets with a calm, soft, and friendly demeanor. She may be a little new to the big world, but her kind nature shines through in everything she does.

She is crate trained and keeps her space clean without accidents. Joy is also used to having access to a dog door, so she may need a little patience and guidance as she adjusts to a new routine in her forever home—especially when it comes to holding it with more freedom indoors.

Joy currently weighs 22 pounds and is working on slimming down to a healthier weight. She’s already on a diet to help her feel her best. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and has recently had a dental cleaning, so she’s off to a great start for her next chapter.

If you’re looking for a calm, affectionate companion who will happily snuggle by your side, Joy might be the perfect addition to your family.
