Joy's Story

Meet Joy!

Positives: Looking for a husky without the husky-level chaos? Meet Joy, our resident couch potato extraordinaire. This gorgeous senior gal has perfected the art of lounging and takes her role as “house supervisor from the couch” very seriously.
Joy is super friendly with her people and loves having company, but she’s also wonderfully low-maintenance. She’s not going to demand five hikes a day but may decide she must have your attention right now. In that case, expect some classic husky sass. She doesn’t pull on leash and is really just happy to hang out by your side (or better yet, stretched out on the sofa like the royalty she believes she is).

She’s more about neighborhood strolls and backyard sniffing than mountain climbing these days, and that suits her just fine.
Because she likes her space when she wants it, Joy would do best in a home without small children. But in an adult or retired household? She’d be the perfect companion. Think of her as part dog, part roommate, and part throw pillow with opinions.
Joy may be a senior, but she’s still got plenty of personality to spare. If you’re looking for a sweet, sassy, affectionate husky who will happily trade trail runs for Netflix marathons—Joy is your girl.

Things she needs support on: Like any queen, Joy comes with her own quirks and opinions. Joy has so much love to give, but she’ll need a family who understands her needs and is willing to support her as she adjusts to a new environment. Coming from a shelter, she’ll need patience while she decompresses and learns to trust—but with kindness and consistency, she’ll absolutely blossom.
Now, let’s talk personality: Joy is a little sassy. She does not appreciate being told to go in her crate/kennel and will absolutely let you know how she feels about it. She can get a bit mouthy and snappy when she’s annoyed. She isn’t the biggest fan of sharing her couch and would prefer to have her own loveseat and also has shown some food aggression. Truthfully, she’d much rather live life her way—lounging on the couch like the queen she knows she is. While Joy enjoys her throne, she’s still a husky at heart. She’ll need moderate walks, reasonable hikes, and a bit of mental stimulation to keep her happy and healthy. Just don’t expect her to tackle long trails like she might have in her younger years—she’s more about balancing “outdoor adventure” with “couch potato chic.” While she may need a little refresher on basic manners and training, we believe she’s lived in a home before and will adjust quickly once she finds her people. Joy is affectionate, funny, and full of personality. She loves her people, enjoys some exercise, but is also perfectly content to spend most of the day lounging. If you’re looking for a husky who’s equal parts sweetheart and diva, Joy is ready to rule your home (and your couch) with love.

Location: Langley, BC
Age: 5 to 7 Years Old
Size: 45lbs to 50lbs
Gender: Female
Vaccinations and spay/neuter: Vaccinations are UTD and she is fixed.
Potty trained: Yes
Crate trained: She is but hates the crate and would prefer to lounge on the couch
Kid friendly: Needs to be in an adult household
Dog friendly: Yes
Cat friendly: Unknown
Energy level: Medium
Drive: we are still assessing and monitoring
