Josie's Story

Josie is a friendly, athletic young heeler mix. She loves people and dogs of all ages, shapes and sizes. Josie is house trained, crate trained, and rides well in the car loose, or in her crate. She knows basic obedience commands, walks well on a leash, and stays close by when she's off-leash. Josie is very food and toy motivated, and LOVES to play fetch! Anyone interested in adopting her should be okay with a dog who frequently plops a ball in their lap and stares at them, waiting for the ball to be tossed. That said, if you ignore the stare, after a few minutes, Josie will leave the ball alone (unless you touch it!) and go lay down. We currently own 3 small dogs, all of which were here before Josie was adopted. One of the small dogs has a heart condition, and Josie has proven to be too much for them on a daily basis. She is not an aggressive dog by any means, but she constantly wants to play, and she is rowdy with the little dogs. We own another older Cattle Dog mix who gets along well with Josie, and when she gets too rough with him he puts her in her place. She accepts these corrections from our older Cattle Dog well, but doesn't take the little dogs' complaints seriously, and for this reason she shouldn't be in a home with small dogs or cats. Josie is up to date on all vaccinations and is already spayed. She is a fun dog who is great to travel with and loves the company of people and other dogs. More pictures and videos are available upon request. Modest rehoming fee and a veterinary reference will be required for anyone interested in adopting her.
