JOSIE's Story

Josie is a sweet and loyal young shepherd mix with a playful spirit and so much love to give. At just 1 year old, she's still learning the ropes of being the perfect companion, but she's already made amazing progress in foster care and is ready to find a family willing to continue helping her shine.

Josie does well on walks and only pulls a little, especially when she gets excited. She's eager to learn and would benefit from continued training and consistency. One thing her foster absolutely loves about her is how wonderful she is in her crate — she settles in quietly, never complains, and handles downtime like a champ.

When meeting new dogs, Josie can be a little shy at first, but once she feels comfortable, she does great and enjoys having canine friends around. She has also picked up potty training very quickly in foster care, though she's still young and learning, so she'll need a family willing to keep her on a routine and continue reinforcing her good habits.

Josie is affectionate, goofy, and full of personality. Her foster lovingly calls her “a little alligator” because she loves to play with her mouth and can get a little mouthy when excited. It's never aggressive — it's simply how she plays — but because she's still learning to be gentle, she would do best with older kids or a family prepared to help redirect her playful energy appropriately.

At the end of the day, Josie is a really great dog with a huge heart. She thrives on love, patience, and connection, and the more love you give her, the more she gives right back. With continued guidance and a family committed to helping her grow, Josie is going to make an incredibly devoted best friend.
