JOSIE

Josie is a 4 year old female American Bully mixed with maybe some mastiff of some sort, who is SO ready to get the heck out of this shelter! Sure, her needs are taken care of, but this girl needs MORE! Josie was surrendered to the shelter ONE AND A HALF YEARS AGO when her owner passed away. She was accompanied by her 10 (now 12) year old sister Kali, who has since been adopted (and who is doing AMAZING!). Since Josie knows what it is like to live in a home environment, we believe that she will be quick to settle in and start living the life that she so deserves, without much fuss at all. Sure she will have to learn the rules of her new household, but she's already most of the way there! Josie is a calm and quiet girl who weighs approximately 75 pounds. There is a decent chance she might have some mastiff lurking in her background. She is SOLID. Josie is a well behaved soul, but she is a strong girl and is currently working on how to walk politely on a leash. Once you get her out and going she settles down and the pulling gets better, but that isn't to say that she doesn't occasionally forget herself (don't we all?) She is very athletic and when she pulls SHE PULLS, but she has shown (and will continue to show) improvement in this arena as volunteers and staff work with her more and more, because this dog is absolutely brilliant, ready and willing to learn! Currently, she would probably be best with a fenced in area as her education continues. Josie keeps her kennel clean, and we have every reason to believe that this girl is house trained, though, as with any new placement, reminders may be necessary until she gets the flow of things in her new home.
