Jordie's Story

When Jordie arrived as a stray, his size and loud bark could be intimidating, and he was wary of unfamiliar people, a common German Shepherd trait. He's still a big dog and remains cautious with new faces, but he's comfortable and friendly with the people he knows. Jordie has shown us he's essentially an oversized puppy who likely hasn't had much socialization or life experiences. Finding suitable play partners has been challenging, but recent introductions went better than expected: he was gentle with other dogs and responded well to corrections from an older dog. He is also very sensitive to corrections from his handler. He's highly playful and loves balls and tug toys, and we're continuing to work on reliable releases. He likes car rides. He does guard his food bowl, but who wants someone taking their dinner? With time and training, that behavior could diminish. Because of his size, we believe he'd do best in an adults-only home, or one with older, responsible children.

$75 adoption fee includes neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations and microchip. He tested NEG for heartworms, has been treated for parasites and started on flea/tick/heartworm prevention.
