Joey's Story

* PLEASE VISIT LADYBIRDANIMALSANCTUARY.COM TO APPLY FOR JOEY *

AGE AT ARRIVAL: Approximately 3 years old
ARRIVAL DATE: March 13th, 2026
GENDER: Neutered Male
ADOPTION FEE: $350
NOTES:
Joey ended up at Hamilton Animal Services as a stray, and no owner came forward to claim him. Someone in his previous home taught him how to sit, and he kept his kennel very clean while he was at the shelter. No idea why Joey’s owners didn’t come looking for him, but he is sweet as can be. Such a lovely guy!
We were thrilled to get Joey out of the shelter when a foster family stepped up.
Joey’s been a superstar in his foster home. He is very energetic, but also very affectionate. He gets along very well with the other dog in the home. Though does sometimes play a bit rough with her, he means no harm. He hasn’t had any accidents in the house, nor has he chewed anything he shouldn’t. Such a good boy!
After getting a clean bill of health at the vet, Joey is now ready for his forever home!

Here’s a note from his foster family:
“Meet Joey! This handsome boy is full of energy and personality. He’s a smart, treat-motivated pup who’s eager to learn and thrives when given guidance and positive reinforcement. Joey is already housebroken and has been a very respected house guest— though he has been linked to the mysterious disappearance of an unattended piece of cheese from the kitchen counter.
Joey is an active dog who requires a committed person to provide him with the exercise and enrichment he needs. He loves going for walks and is always ready for an adventure, whether it’s exploring the neighborhood, having a play session with his dog friends or following you around the house “helping”. He’s a very social guy and has done well meeting both male and female dogs and would enjoy a canine buddy. While he hasn’t met any cats yet, his friendly nature and willingness to learn suggests he’d likely respond well with proper introductions.
Joey is a total sweetheart who loves to cuddle and be close to his people. When left alone, Joey settles in nicely, curling up on his bed by the door and patiently waits for you to return. Joey does also have a playful side and can get a little rambunctious. He’s not aggressive at all, just full of enthusiasm, which could mean accidentally knocking over small children in his excitement. Because of this, a home with older kids and similarly sized pets may be the best fit.
If you’re looking for a fun-loving, loyal companion who will keep you active and shower you with affection, Joey might just be your perfect match!”

Please adopt Joey!
Visit ladybirdanimalsanctuary.com to apply
